Ahmedabad Plane Crash Claims Nearly All Lives on Board
Air India Flight 171, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad on 12 June 2025 while en route to London Gatwick. The aircraft lost altitude within seconds of departure and hit a residential area near the airport, triggering a massive fire. Out of 242 people on board, 241 were killed, with one survivor reported. Several ground casualties also occurred. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is leading the probe, with preliminary findings pointing to a possible loss of engine power shortly after take-off. The tragedy has reignited concerns over aviation safety and emergency preparedness in India.
