India passes modern aviation law and global safety concerns rise

India’s new aviation regulatory law passed – On 11 December 2024, the Bharatiya Vayuyan Adhiniyam, 2024 (Indian Aircraft Act, 2024) was given presidential assent by the Government of India, replacing the nearly 90-year-old Aircraft Act of 1934 and modernizing civil aviation regulation in the country. Global aviation safety concerns after multiple accidents – December 2024 saw a series of fatal aircraft accidents, including at least seven plane crashes that resulted in hundreds of deaths, drawing attention to airline safety protocols and investigative processes worldwide
